The Shaman and the Scientist
Two methods, one demand: test it against reality.
By Robert Shumake · · 1 min read

The caricature says one is faith and the other is proof. Both caricatures are lazy.
Shared method
Both traditions run the same loop: observe, intervene, watch what changes, revise. The instruments differ. The discipline does not.
Where they part
- Science externalizes the instrument.
- Practice refines the instrument, which is you.
A tool you have never calibrated will lie to you politely for years.
